After months....Our MANY Projects are done!

So Adam and I started refinishing this table back in December 2008. We got the table from my Mom, it was the table that my family used when I was little. My Mom gave it to us to put in our house but first we needed to refinish it. We thought that it would an easy task to sand it down and stain it...but that was not the case. My Mom had covered the top with lin seed oil to help protect the wood, let me tell you it was a PAIN to get that stuff off. Once we got it off it was just fine. The reason it has taken us so long to get it done is because we have no heat in our garage. So sanding was just not fun! at ALL! Plus we had to do it by hand. This last week I decided that we needed to get it done...1st because it has been FOREVER since we started working on it. 2nd because Adam's cousins are coming up from Arizona and I would like to have some place for them to eat besides the coffee table. On Sunday we sanded for 5 long hours, stained for 2 hours and ended our day at 10:30pm. On Monday we started to put the varnish on, the thing with varnish is you have to wait 3-4 hours between coats. We we ended up putting the last coat on at 12:00AM.

Another project we have been working on we refinishing a bed frame we bought for our guest bedroom. I'm so excited that it is done! We now have a full bed instead of a twin bed in our guest bedroom. We got the quilt from Walmart and also the curtains from Walmart. It's pretty sad that a quilt like that you could only get if you made it yourself or pay a lot of money to get one. Now you can get one from Walmart for only like 40 bucks.

One other thing I have been meaning to blog about is my early birthday present my wonderful husband got me. Since Adam won't be here for my birthday he got it early. Since I will be turning 21 my present is to get my concealed weapons permit and a NEW GUN to carry. It took a while to find the perfect gun put I found it. I first went with a Taurus Millennium PT145 but decided that I wanted something different. I went with a Walther P22. I went with this one because is fun to shoot and it looks like it would shoot a bigger bullet than a 22.
